Mike Finley

Mike Finley, co-founder of 4M Iron, grew up in a large and close-knit family on the west side of Cincinnati, Ohio. He freely credits them for his work ethic and dedication to doing things the right way. Mike pursued his Bachelor of Business Administration from Xavier University and his Master’s from Ohio University. He began his career working for Atlanta’s Olympic Games Committee, coordinating logistics for all field-of-play officials across the Olympic stadiums.

In 1997, Mike went to work for Gruner & Jahr USA Publishing in their sports marketing division. He quickly was asked to manage the daily operations of high profile professional tennis and golf properties, including the WTA Family Circle Cup. In 2001, Mike spearheaded the relocation of the Family Circle Cup (now the Volvo Car Open) to Charleston, SC, while also overseeing the construction of the state-of-the-art Family Circle Tennis Center and Stadium on Daniel Island. He then launched the concert division of Gruner & Jahr, where he promoted a variety of top-level national entertainers. In that role, Mike helped start the immensely popular Hootie and the Blowfish Homegrown concert series in the Carolinas that still flourishes today.

The Charleston Business Journal named Mike one of the top “Forty Under 40” individuals in South Carolina, in 2004, the year Mike was promoted to Tournament Director for the Family Circle Cup and General Manager of Family Circle Tennis Center. Mike was responsible for all aspects of the business, including successfully hosting the Davis Cup.

Fueled by his entrepreneurial spirit and his relentless desire to succeed, Mike launched Finley and Associates, in 2006, focusing on the buying and selling of global construction equipment. His company quickly flourished, managing projects for a number of construction equipment dealers in the U.S. and abroad. Managing those global assets, Finley and Associates was responsible for selling more than $8M annually while exporting equipment to over 50 countries throughout the world.

Mike joined his good friend and respected peer, Ross McMillan, in 2013 to launch 4M Iron. Bringing his business acumen, marketing prowess, construction experience and people skills, to 4M Iron has helped to solidify the company as a top industry leader that continues to redefine the future of global equipment sales and management…and now, the auction side of the business, as well.

Mike and his wife Katie currently live in Charleston, SC and are the proud parents of four children, Helena, Elle, Declan, and Vaughn. He enjoys spending time with family and following his favorite teams….the Cincinnati Bengals and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Ross McMillan Jr.

Ross McMillan Jr., co-founder of 4M Iron, is well-respected in the construction equipment industry. Ross McMillan Jr.

Ross McMillan Jr., co-founder of 4M Iron, is well-respected in the construction equipment industry. He spent his early years in a large family in Allendale, South Carolina, in a world filled with tractors and farms. Ross literally grew up in the business; his father owned a John Deere and Massey Ferguson agriculture equipment dealership. His father’s success resulted from hard work, ethical sales tactics and a reliance on offering outstanding value on equipment he could stand behind. Needless to say, those same core values have formed the cornerstones of a highly successful professional career that is now in its third decade.

Upon graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1997 with a degree in Business Administration, to no surprise, Ross was anxious to start his own career in heavy equipment sales. He spent two years as an office manager for the sales department of Mitchell Distributing Company, a Komatsu Construction Equipment Dealer based in Charlotte, NC, growing their bottom line and working with regional salespeople to improve margins and exceed customer expectations. His success in sales prompted a promotion to rental manager at Mitchell Rentals, a subsidiary of Mitchell Distributing in Columbia, SC, a position that furthered ignited his passion for and his skills in the construction equipment business.

Ross joined Van Lott, a respected John Deere construction equipment dealer in 2001, managing a growing and successful sales team in four upstate South Carolina counties. He later emerged as the top producer for Martin and Martin Auctioneers , booking over $40M in auction sales annually while also managing its multi-state operations.

Recognizing his fellow industry professional as the ideal business partner, he and Mike Finley joined forces to establish 4M Iron in 2013, which has gone on to become the Southeast’s “trusted equipment partner.” Their shared core values as well as their uncanny ability to ensure that all transactions emerge as win-wins for all parties has fueled their success. The Iron Auction Group is following that same course.

Ross currently lives in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina with his wife Brantli McMillan and their two sons, Ross III and Dalton. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, golf and, of course, cheering on his USC Gamecocks.
